Homage to Marianne North

In 1981–82 Jonah served a year’s fellowship at Gregynog Hall, the University of Wales’s residential study centre near Newtown, Powys. He wished to spend the time developing his watercolour painting, a medium in which he had delved only intermittently for many years. The result was a substantial body of work of which Homage to Marianne North is a striking example. It pays tribute to the Victorian botanist and painter whose meticulous records of exotic plants and landscapes around the world fill a gallery at Kew Gardens.

By Jonah Jones, watercolour and pencil, 1982. Individually numbered from a limited edition set of 350. Printed on 60" wide-format Mimaki inkjet printer using lightfast pigment inks on heavyweight fine art archival paper with fine finish.

We have a small number of remaining 55 cms x 61 cms (21.65 inches x 24.02 inches) prints from our 2010 print run. They are available both unmounted (despatched in a cardboard tube) and with a card mount ready for framing (despatched in a sturdy flat box).
